Dual study programme or apprenticeship at KHS

Dual study
programme

Why choose between practical training and study?

At KHS, you can have both: theory and practice, university and everyday life at a boutique firm, learning and first responsibilities.

On your dual study programme at one of our partner universities (IU, FOM or CBS), you will gain practical experience right from the start, work on interesting projects, and build the foundation for your career at one of the best tax consulting firms in Germany.

If you are interested in studying at another university, that’s no problem either. Please contact us to discuss the possible options.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about apprenticeships and dual study programmes at KHS

Starting your career is an exciting step. But what can you actually expect at KHS? We have put together answers to questions we hear quite a lot.

What will my day-to-day work at KHS look like?
Your day-to-day work will be varied and practical. From the outset, you will work as part of a team, assist with client work and gain insights into the areas of tax consulting, auditing and business valuation. In addition to regular tasks, you will learn about different projects and gradually take on more responsibility. You will never be left to your own devices: asking questions is always encouraged.
What tasks will I take on during my apprenticeship or dual study programme?
Theory and practice go hand in hand: You will support the team in processing client assignments and assisting with annual financial statements and tax returns, while learning how a modern firm operates. As you gain experience, you will take on tasks independently and be introduced to more complex topics.
What do we expect from you?
We don't expect perfection, just motivation. What matters is an interest in economic topics, reliability, a willingness to learn, attention to detail and respectful interaction within the team. If you communicate openly, are happy to take on responsibility and want to develop your professional skills, you already have a lot to offer. Good German language skills are essential, and proficiency in English is a bonus. While school grades are important to us, what matters most is whether you are committed and a good fit for the team.
Do I need prior knowledge of taxation or auditing for an apprenticeship?
No, you don't need any prior knowledge to start the apprenticeship. You will learn everything you need to know with us, step by step. What matters is that you are curious, think critically and are eager to learn.
How will I be supported during my apprenticeship or studies?
You will have the support of experienced colleagues, who will provide technical support and feedback. We prioritise making sure you feel well looked after and always know who to turn to. For us, learning is an integral part of our daily work, not a by-product.
Are there designated contact persons or mentors?
Yes. You will have designated contact persons in the team who will accompany you in your day-to-day work and help you with technical or organisational questions. This means you will have a reliable point of contact and clear guidance from day one.
How can I balance my studies, work and exam periods?
We know that studying and exams require time and focus. That's why we tailor working hours and tasks to your study schedule and take your exam periods into account. Thanks to flexible working models and clear agreements, it's easy to balance your studies, work and free time.
What prospects do I have after completing my training at KHS?
Our goal is to retain you as a long-term employee and work with you to shape your future career path. Once you have successfully completed your training, there will be excellent employment and development opportunities available to you. Depending on your circumstances, it may also be possible to shorten the training period.

We will actively support you in finding your individual career path within the firm, accompanying you in your further development even after your training has finished. For instance, you can train to become a certified public accountant, tax specialist or audit specialist, and prepare for the tax advisor exam.
What prospects do I have after completing my dual study programme at KHS?
Once you have completed your dual study programme, you will have excellent career opportunities at KHS, such as the position of associate. Together, we will develop a career path that aligns with your strengths and goals. If you wish to gain further professional qualifications, you could pursue a career as a certified tax advisor and/or certified auditor. We will support you in preparing for your professional exams.

Alternatively, you can develop your professional skills at KHS without taking exams, specialising in specific topics or areas, and taking on responsibility in your field. Our goal is to establish a long-term working relationship that suits you.
How does the application process for an apprenticeship or dual study programme work?
It's very straightforward. You get in touch with us and we get to know each other in a personal conversation – without the need for a traditional application folder or complicated formalities. What matters to us is who you are and whether we are a good fit for each other.

to meeting you!
